What it is all about !

Leeds Spread Eagle Club is a group of former and retired Barclays members of staff who live in the old Leeds District (before the merger with York District).

We currently number around 600 members. Of these we have100 who are classed as ‘active’ members, which basically means that they attend at least one event each calendar year. Barclays fund the Clubs according to their memberships, with active members gaining the Club the most revenue to continue with the following years activities.

We have a Committee made up of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, President and Social Secretary. Also included in the committee are a number of welfare officers who each have a small portfolio of members whom we feel we need to remain in contact. That contact can be just a short ‘ how are you’ to ‘what can we do to help’ in times of need.

If you live in the old Leeds District you qualify to join us if:

  • You have retired from the Barclays Group with an immediate pension from the Barclays UKRF Pension Fund - or

  • You left the Barclays Group with a Barclays UKRF deferred pension that is now in payment and are aged 50 or over and completed a minimum of 15 years employment with Barclays - or

  • You are the widow or widower of the former eligible member

If you qualify under any of the above we would be delighted to see you. If you want to join or have any queries relating to membership, please do not hesitate to contact us by email. (Click Here)

New Associate Membership

In March 2020 the committee agreed to create a new membership category - ‘associate member’. This category is for those who are not eligible for full membership, but have worked for Barclays and wish to join in events and meet up with former colleagues. Associate members do not gain any discounts that full members are entitled to as we do not receive any grant money for their participation. We haven’t really had an opportunity advertise this development yet, but have already recruited 9 new associates members. So, if you know anyone who once worked for Barclays and would like to join us - let them have our details and we’ll bring them in!
